All of us here at Horse Country wish you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Seasons Greetings, Felice Navidad … wherever in the world you are! We have had a great year here finding new people, places and topics to fill our pages, and we look forward to more of the same next year.
In our next issue we have a fact-filled article about horse's hearts; how they work, diseases of the heart, and including memories of horses with super "heart" who came to be loved and remembered by the public such as Eric Lamaze's Hickstead, Seabiscuit, Ian Millar's Big Ben, General Lee's Trader, etc.
 As our January 31 edition is the first of our two Breeder-focussed editions, we have included an article of interest to breeders. Find out which diseases can be transmitted between horses during breeding activities.

The season is a time for giving. Here are some dollar-busting ideas: - Donate unused tack to equine charities or horse rescues.
- Commit to giving time to an equine charity next year.
- Give your barn friends personal gift certificates of a horse grooming or tack cleaning.
- When you sweep up the barn after yourself, don't do just your spot - do the whole floor!
- Teach a new horse owner how to braid manes and tails.
