Do Smart Things With Your Process Models

One of the challenges for organisations who have been doing BPM for a while and have had a range of business processes mapped is to make sense of them when their repositories grow. It becomes then a case of too much information. How do you reuse them? How do you improve or group them in a smart, reusable and structured way? Sure there are governance and methods in place to do continuous improvements, but often these are manual steps. Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane have came up with an idea of an Advanced Process Model Repositories or AProMoRe. The concept is to allow organisations to have a platform to do assisted, "smart" things with their now growing business process repository.

Business Service Management for SOA?

Similar to Business Process Management (BPM) for business processes, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) has put forward that Business Service Management (BSM) is the new discipline required for services. This concept actually goes beyond our typical understanding of services, web services or Services-Oriented Architecture (SOA), which is normally viewed as an IT-type technology. Taking a framework and management approach to designing BSM, this discipline will formalise a lot of the "moving parts" in the spaces of SOA, Process Automation, Composite Applications and Business Process Management Suites (BPMS).
