Trending 1: Major milestones were achieved this month (our 43rd month of the LHMA Sticker A Mussel campaign):  We have now “stickered” in excess of 22,000 boats/trailers – 20,000 just in Lake Havasu City alone and more than 50% are California registered boaters. The Parker Strip is now over the 1,000 sticker mark with Yuma not far behind with 800+. Thanks to our many volunteers who work the launch ramps, and to our network of marine dealers, manufacturers and waterfront resorts who do such an outstanding job of implementing this program.

Trending 2: September is back to school and we are very appreciative that Dr. Sharon Harvey at ASU Havasu is again incorporating aquatic invasive species into her class room curriculum for the new semester.  Over 25 students in her class have signed up to partake in actual on-the-launch-ramp Sticker-A-Mussel contact with boaters, getting first-hand experience in seeing how the effort to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species is being waged and why it is so important.  Our thanks to Dr. Harvey and her students for once again being an active participant in this vital campaign.

Trending 3: The Annual Bullhead City River Regatta has been canceled until further notice by a majority vote of the Bullhead City Council during a September 20 meeting. A significant contingent of concerned citizens and local tribe members voiced their negative opinions about the aftermath of the recent River Regatta which deposited a large quantity of debris into the river as participants exited the water at the end of the annual float event.  Some of this debris floated down river with the current as far as the Havasu Refuge and even into the main body of Lake Havasu.
