Space One Eleven is offering a 2 ½ day lithography workshop led by Master Printer, Darin Forehand, of Houston.  The workshop will focus on traditional stone lithography, its history and the printing of images from Bavarian limestone. Attendees will begin with a brief but thorough understanding of the lithographic process, with an emphasis on practical techniques found in both commercial and fine art practices. Participants will select their own stone to draw, etch and then print. Any transitional alterations to the image will be addressed. Darin Forehand will instruct participants on how to care for their prints, including matting and the archival care of prints.

Participants will print on a circa 1860 French Star Wheel lithography press.

Space One Eleven will provide shop supplies.  Participants will provide their own printing papers and general art supplies.  A list of these supplies will be provided upon registration.  In consideration of the time frame, participants are strongly encouraged to bring a preliminary drawing to work from. Images should be no larger than 12” x 8”.

The workshop will be held from 6 to 9 pm on Friday, February 7 and from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, February 8 and 9.

The workshop is limited to 12 participants.  The fee for the  2 ½ day workshop is $150.

To register, please call Cheryl Lewis at (205) 328-0553 ext. 27.  You may pay by credit card at the time of registration to reserve your seat in the workshop.  The last day to register is Monday, January 27, 2014.
