WWP & Conservation Partners Seek Prelimary Injunction of Wolf Delisting

Friends,

Today Western Watersheds Project and 12 conservation partners filed a motion in federal court asking Judge Molloy to issue a preliminary injunction stopping the US Fish & Wildlife Service's decision to remove Endangered Species Act Protections from Northern Rocky Mountain wolves while the merits of the case are considered.

The federal government's decision to delist wolves this year has resulted in state management plans that allow for the liberal killing of wolves both for sport and for livestock depredations.

Our motion to the judge argues that the best science indicates the proposed number of wolves killed this year will not ensure the genetic exchange among wolves in the West that would be necessary for succesful recovery to occur and be sustained.
