New Happy Tails Books Video Illustrates the Impact of Dog Rescue Efforts
Are you still wondering what dog rescue is all about? Would
you like to know more about Happy Tails Books? I’ve recorded two videos and
posted them on our website. They both provide important information about dog
rescue and give an introduction to Happy Tails Books. This version describes the state of the
dog breeding industry and explains the Happy Tails Books project, and this one goes into further
detail about how Happy Tails Books came about. Please check it out when you
have a moment. Thanks to Azimuth for allowing us to use their music for these videos!

Next Year's Breeds - Unleashed!
While not set in stone, we’re expecting to compile books for
the following breeds in 2010: German Shepherds, Beagles, Boxers, Pugs,
Chihuahuas, and Border Collies. Depending on time constraints of our volunteer
staff, we will try to publish more. Have suggestions for a breed? Send them
over! Please encourage anyone who has adopted one of the aforementioned dogs to
send over a story at his/her
earliest convenience.
Advocacy Feature: Linda Blair, WorldHeart Foundation
Many don’t
know that the little girl whose head spun around in The Exorcist grew up to be an animal advocate with a special place in her heart for Pit Bulls. She’s
dedicated her life to helping Pit Bulls in need. You can read her story, and
those of many who have adopted from the WorldHeart Foundation, in our upcoming
book, Lost Souls: Found! Inspiring Stories About Pit Bulls.
Blog Spotlight: Bookin' With Bingo
BOOKIN' WITH BINGO is a
book blog that features reviews and numerous giveaways. The blog mascot, "Ms.
M," is a rescued dog, and “Bingo” (aka Karen Haney) supports dog rescue, often
highlighting books that do the same. Bingo says Happy Tails Books, her son's
wonderful dog, and her local Humane Society have alerted her to how much
help is needed to make people aware of animal cruelty, puppy mills, and rescued
animals. She’s happy to do her part.
Book
Feature: Brandy and Val, Real Dogs with
Real Tales
The Brandy and Val books almost look like a
recipe collection – they flip at the top and have colored tabs at the bottom.
What really caught my eye, however, was the comic-book style blurbs giving each
photograph a voice. What’s more, the books each have accompanying plus toys
resembling the “stars,” Brandy and Val, who went from down-on-their luck shelter
pups to pampered pooches. This is a perfect way to introduce youngsters to the
importance of adoption. Like us, author Ilene Fine donations a portion of
profits back to animal rescue efforts.
Contributor Spotlight
As you may know, HTB is currently a volunteer organization

Proofreaders: You have significantly improved my
understanding of the English language, and I’m eternally grateful. Thanks go
out to Scott Harper, Odette Tanner, Julie Tinker, Blair Hammond, Patti and Eric
Emminger, Mandy Born, and Katriena Knights for proofreading.
·
Our Accountant and Lawyers: Jessica Morris, thank you for
selflessly providing your time and effort to help HTB keep our numbers
straight. Lisa Hogan, Chris Parent, and Bruce Plotkin, thanks for helping us with our release form.
When I first started HTB, I somehow lucked out
by roping in Lowrey Mumford, a former journalist, to help me launch this effort.
Since becoming the HTB co-editor, she has volunteered countless hours of her
time to edit these books. She is a pillar of strength and a great help, and I’d
like to give her a special thanks.
