The Tennessee Justice Center is looking for a highly motivated undergraduate or graduate student to serve as our Memphis Outreach Intern. The intern will represent TJC at local health fairs and other outreach events, distribute TJC flyers and materials throughout the Memphis area, and be mentored by a local legal advocate. This position will require a monthly commitment of 16-20 hours/month for the spring 2011 semester.
The successful candidate will be a “self starter,” need minimal supervision, and be interested in experiencing non-profit legal advocacy work from the inside. Ideally the candidate would be motivated by a commitment to “equal justice for all,” understanding that getting there entails its fair share of tedious, yet vitally important, work. What is guaranteed is the opportunity to represent and learn from a highly respected organization that brings about positive change for low-income Tennesseans every day through its work.

Please forward this e-mail to anyone you think could be interested. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, November 19, 2010. Applicants should send a resume, cover letter, and 3-5 pp. writing sample to Susanne Bennett, Tennessee Justice Center, 301 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37201-1568, Fax: 615-255-0354, e-mail: sbennett@tnjustice.org. If emailing or faxing, please include as a subject line “MEMPHIS OUTREACH INTERN.” NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
