Service Statistics: January 1, 2009 - December 31, 2009
In 2009, the American Red Cross responded to 155 disaster cases, including tornadoes and house fires. We assisted families with 150 military cases. Over 10,400 people received training in CPR and First Aid. We provided 712 clients with translations, interpretations, and/or referrals. The services we provide every day are only possible because of our donors and volunteers.
Your donations matter. If you donated $10 last year, you provided comforting blankets to a mother and child affected by a disaster. If you donated $55, your dollars helped train an individual in life-saving CPR and First Aid. If you donated $115, you provided a week's worth of groceries to a family displaced by a house fire. A gift of any size to the American Red Cross will save the day when the next disaster strikes.
To make a donation and make a difference in 2010, call (260) 484-9336 x230 or make a secure donation online. Your gift supports the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross in your community, across the country and around the world. |

On December 7, 2009, donors toured the finished building and were among the first to view the new It Matters Every Day Capital Campaign Donor Wall. On December 8, 2009, the Red Cross held an open house event with public tours and a visit from our mascot, Bart the Bear.

On November 18, 2009, the American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana hosted its third annual Society for H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Prepare for Emergencies) Fundraising Breakfast. During the event, guests heard live testimonials from Randy Roberts, Monica Herbst, Peter Connor, and a surprise greeting via Skype from Peter’s son, Nicholas, who is currently serving in the military in Iraq.

Thank You for Supporting Holiday Mail for Heroes
Thank you to everyone who helped make the 2009 American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign a huge success! As part of a nation-wide effort, the American Red Cross and local communities worked together to send cards to active service members, military families, and veterans during the Holiday season.
Locally, volunteers distributed candy canes, oranges, and holiday cards to approximately 250 veterans and wounded patients at the VA Hospital in Fort Wayne. An additional 75 cards were distributed among three local American Legions. Many thanks to everyone who took time out of their busy schedule to send a holiday greeting card to the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces around the world.
