"
CO2 Meter is essential..."

"This is fantastic. It took me two months to finally figure out where 1,700 ppm levels were coming from in our house. It's the damn oven pilot lights in our brick, aluminum frame windows, sealed tight sometimes. Accounts for backaches and tiredness and earaches.

Until I get the hang of it, monitoring CO2, wind speed and direction, venting windows, carbon filters, and exhaust fans appropriately, I feel like a sea captain in the 1800s, looking for that clean air. But I think it will work out well.

Took a lot to figure this out, decades in fact, and I'm a radical, environmentally aware, science type. CO2 meter is essential. Should be taught in grammar school."

CO2, Temp & %RH Monitor With Relay, Alarm on Sale

cSense-wall-co2-transmitter-relay-alarmAt $199.95, the cSense is the lowest-price CO2 alarm with Relay on the market today!

The cSense continuously shows carbon dioxide, temperature and relative humidity levels on it's big display so you can monitor the quality of air in your home, office or indoor greenhouse.

But in addition to monitoring levels, the cSense also has both a user-configurable 80dB alarm and a normally open relay for integration with an HVAC system or to control a ventilation fan.

CO2 Monitors Used In Poultry Industry

chickensOne of the coolest parts of our job here at CO2 meter is that we get to learn the many ways CO2 is used and monitored throughout various industries. The poultry industry is no different.

At virtually every stage of a chicken's life-cycle, the management of CO2 levels is required.

• It starts with egg incubation. Using CO2 as a blanket gas over the eggs helps regulate overall temperature, resulting in fewer "early peeps". Many of our clients use our 1% CO2 Transmitter/Controller in a NEMA enclosure to monitor and control the CO2 levels.

• For eggs used in vaccine production, a virus is inserted into an egg, incubated, harvested, then inactivated. This process requires carbon dioxide levels in the 5-11% range, so we recommend using our 30% CO2 controller in a NEMA4 enclosure.

NEW Remote CO2 Monitor & Data Logger with Display

CM-0028-NEMA-LoggerTransmitter can be installed 100 ft or more away from head unit!

The Remote data logger with display is designed for applications where carbon dioxide levels need to be measured in a remote location while being displayed locally on a data-logging head unit. It includes either a 1% or 30% CO2 level transmitter tethered to a head unit that displays the current CO2 reading. The head unit includes built-in memory, so it can be detached and connected to a computer to download the logged data.

In addition to data-logging, the remote head unit includes a relay that can actively control ventilation or CO2 generation systems, and a built-in buzzer to warn when CO2 levels exceed a programmed limit.

2012 AHR Trade Show in Chicago Review

by Ray Hicks, President, CO2Meter.com

ahr-logoI wasn’t particularly overwhelmed by the AHR show this year: first, Chicago in the winter leaves a lot to be desired from this transplanted Floridians' point of view, and second, in contrast to the previous Chicago show, it appeared there weren’t as many bodies in the isles. Scanning the AHRExpo.com website I didn’t see a press release touting record attendance numbers, so I’m betting that I’m right. But these are the notes I took in case you're interested:

Best Product

I'm putting the best product first for those of you who won't read the entire article. It is the NEST thermostat (nest.com) from the Apple team. So well done, the entire concept is so simple and so well explained, it is no wonder they are sold out almost continuously. What they have created using WIFI and pre-tested applications puts everyone else’s products to shame. Buy one. Trust me.

Wrong Moves

I had a Déjà vu moment in each isle as I read the proliferation of signs touting BACNET, LONNET, X10 and other assorted network and radio telemetry schemes all bucking to be the next standard.

What a waste of energy. Everyone will lose a lot of money, and the winner will be TCP/IP over Ethernet or WIFI that we have already installed in our homes and businesses for our iPads and PCs. Why reinvent the wheel?

Also, I found it interesting that the solar panel category (panels, controls, power systems) was very thin. Either AHR isn’t interested in them, or the manufacturer’s don’t see any benefit being in front of the buyers at AHR. During the 2011 HVAC shows in China and Europe I attended, the solar panel people were as thick as thieves.
