A special thank you to our Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, sponsors, host committee members, special guest Sam Venable, and our Friends of the Foothills. Lastly, a very special thank you to Christine Hayworth, for providing her lovely farm as our host location again this year!

FLC Land Director, Meredith Clebsch, receives Bravo Award!
Bravo Sign
Last month, Meredith received a Bravo Award on behalf of the Garden Clubs of Blount County! She worked really hard to bring the front of FLC's office back to it's native roots. Stop by our offices at 373 Ellis Avenue in Maryville to take a look and visit with us - everything is in bloom right now! Clebsch would like to note for the record that everyone at Foothills pitched in to help. Clebsch recommends these resources for planting native -  NC Botantical Garden and Margie Hunter's book, 'Gardening with the Native Plants of TN'. You can catch up with Meredith July 27th-30th at the 2011 Native Plant Conference at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. - July 27-30. Click here for registration information.

*A Note About Conservation Easements - The Foothills office has been busy with land owner requests for more information about conservation easements. This year, conservation-minded landowners now have until December 31, 2011 to take advantage of a significant tax deduction for donating a voluntary conservation agreement to permanently protect important natural or historic resources on their land.  When landowners donate a conservation easement they maintain ownership and management of their land and can sell or pass the land on to their heirs while foregoing future development rights. They can also decide to bequeath the land to private or public entities. For more information, please contact Bill Clabough, FLC's Executive Director, at 865-681-8326 or bclabough@foothillsland.org
