FTC and its Revised Guides Governing Endorsements & Testimonials: More Reasons to Do Clinical Research By: Latesha Richards October 2009 No one disagrees with industry-wide practice of using a well-known face, personality or a positive experience to market your brands, not even the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). But some companies have gone too far in deceiving consumers with false or misleading claims. In clarifying and finalizing some previously open-ended and vague advertising guidelines regarding expert and consumer endorsements, the FTC took a huge step on October 6, 2009, toward cracking down on bad industry habits when using third party material.
A Look at Sports Nutrition Supplements: Their Ingredients & Evidence By: Charles Spielholz, Ph.D October 2009 There is a wide range of products on the market known as sports supplements. The purpose of a sports supplement is to help the user be more energetic and more muscular. Such products may also claim to aid in the loss of fat and to improve recovery after strenuous exertion. In addition, some products may also claim to improve performance, although performance-enhancing substances are not legal in professional sports. |
