| Grant Application Process |
|
Applicants must complete and submit a Photonics
Request for Manufacturing
Resources (RFMR) on or before February 4, 2010.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to engage in
dialogue with CMC before formally submitting their RFMR, particularly if they
have concerns about technical feasibility and pricing. CMC can
provide estimate pricing at this stage if enough detail is provided by the
applicant. However, please note that pricing may be
highly dependent on design details, which in most cases will not be fully specified until later in the design process.
CMC may contact applicants to clarify technical details, before completing the review process. Please ensure that the Principal Designer is
available for consultation, or specify an alternate member of your design team who can respond promptly to queries from CMC.
To ensure the best possible use of the resources available for prototype fabrication, requests for these resources will be reviewed by an external Peer Review Committee. This committee will recommend allocation of fabrication resources based on the quality of the information in the completed RFMRs. Notifications of
fabrication grant awards will be made by e-mail to the applicants by March 4, 2010.
CMC welcomes any feedback you may have on this application process; comments
should be directed to fab@cmc.ca

| Prototyping Access Options and Pricing |
|
There are two options for accessing Photonics and
Optoelectronics
Prototyping Services provided by CMC:
1. Peer-reviewed grant application:
- Expect 2-3 application rounds per year. Refer to our fabrication schedule.
- For those requiring epitaxy
only, applications are accepted on a monthly
basis. More...
- Designs that are granted fabrication resources in this process receive sizable discounts (on the order of 80%) on
standard manufacturing prices.
2. Pay-for-fab option:
