Fidelisation
The solution to the dilemma is elegantly simple: create an environment of genuine listening. "Sponge listening" occurs when management absorbs complaints and soothes bruised feelings but understands nothing and changes nothing. - "If your talented people are not happy, you have to find out why." Putting a policy of "Fidelisation" in place requires the following:
The identification and development of talent and "lashing" them to the enterprise remains the top workforce challenge of the coming years. The complexities of cross generational functioning will require the utmost in leadership development, talent training, and emotional acuity. Coaching More Than Gourmet ![]() by: Deb Burke DecisionPoint Associate - Brad Sacks is an expert on bones. As the founder of the Akron-based More Than Gourmet, Sacks' company specializes in making classic French stocks, demi-glace and gourmet sauces the old fashioned way—from bones and natural ingredients without chemicals or preservatives. "We bring in bones and cook the real stuff," Sacks says. "It's a fun business." - More Than Gourmet has drawn the attention of the world's best chefs, leading hotels and upscale restaurants. Over sixteen years, the company has grown from one to thirty employees. As founder, owner and CEO, Sacks has learned that with growth come challenges. - While their French soups, stews and sauces were meeting the standard of culinary excellence, parts of the company were in need of an infusion. Earlier this year, the company hired DecisionPoint to help it better understand how senior members of the management team work together. - DecisionPoint first administered the Myers-Briggs Temperament Inventory (MBTI) to all team members and then interpreted the findings. "The results were interesting and pretty enlightening," Sacks said. "The Myers-Briggs profile helped us understand on a personal level why we're wired to do one thing well and other things not so well. Vic's expertise in utilizing the data from the MBTI to coach us and help us understand some of the challenges we faced has had tremendous results," Sacks said. "We are better at working together. He helped us to get on the right track." - Vic and Chris meet regularly with staff to review strengths and weaknesses and to develop action plans aimed at helping each individual where they are struggling or wanting to grow. Everyone is asked to make a commitment to establishing new rituals or areas of deep practice so they are more productive and professional in their work. - DecisionPoint also helped the company make tough decisions. "By deferring or delaying important decisions, we were hurting the company," Sacks said. "Vic and Chris provided us with some real insights and coaching that made a difference." - Now every employee has taken the MBTI and knows what the tool means in practical terms. "There are tangible differences in the way people are operating in the company now," Sacks said. "DecisionPoint doesn't just give you information, they give you the tools that make the difference. We are seeing a lot of results." -
