Power Smart Tip:
Your WestShore Chamber
is proud to partner with BC Hydro Power Smart to help your business
conserve energy and save money.
Screen savers are energy
wasters. A computer monitor uses almost full power every time those cute
fish, photo albums
or geometric patterns are on display. Even when the screen saver is set
for "blank screen" mode, the monitor uses nearly
full power. For significant energy savings,
institute a workplace ban on screen savers.

Here are some tips to keep a healthy and organic lawn this summer.
- Mow high (around 3") and mulch the clippings, never cutting more than 1/3 of the grass height at any one time
- Water infrequently but deeply - shallow watering produces shallow roots and weak plants
- Feed the soil - top dress the lawn with finely screened compost once or twice a year, or apply a compost tea
- Avoid using pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and synthetic fertilizers
