News from the Regional Internship Center (RIC)

Happy New Year Everyone!

We are looking forward to a prosperous year in 2011 here at the RIC!

The RIC is beginning to plan the Interns Summer Program 2011. The Interns Summer Program is a series of cultural, social and professional events for interns who are here in the city in June and July. Many students come from all over the country and world to intern in Pittsburgh for the summer. This program helps to showcase the city to these students as well as help connect them with interns from other organizations. Companies hosting interns support registration fees for their interns. If there are any employers who would like more information, please contact Trisha Hyatt at thyatt@coropittsburgh.org.
The RIC is partnering with a consortium of 29 regional colleges and universities to host a Math & Science Interview Day for students in majors in math, physics, chemistry, biology and environmental science in February.
If your company has an internship or a job that would be of interest to students in the above mentioned majors, please contact thyatt@coropittsburgh.org. We are hoping to have all companies confirmed by January 14th.

GoodSearch for a Good Cause

We’ve told you about goodsearch before.  But hey, it’s a new year, and we think it’s time for a reminder!

Coro Pittsburgh has been utilizing GoodSearch and GoodShop for the past several years, and as all good internet sites have, they’ve evolved!  In the summer of 2010, GoodSearch offered a challenge for non profits to encourage people to download the GoodSearch toolbar, which allows people to always make their purchases go farther even if they don’t remember or want to go through the GoodShop site.

So, if you’re a Coro alumni – I’m sure you’ve already formulated that goal list for 2011, maybe even made a New Years Resolution or two. So, if you are:

Purchases from AT&T, the Apple Store, Best Buy, eBay, Match.com and hundreds of other stores / sites are eligible for up to 30% of your purchase price to be donated back to Coro Pittsburgh.

"I believe that my experience with Coro awakened me. I believe that in some respects I had been sleepwalking through my career, not making choices or changes. After Coro, I took control and set my own goals and began to make personal changes."
