Three NT-NL Seminarians Receive Major Awards

First Grants from the NT-NL Endowed Scholarship Fund

In 2007 the NT-NL Synod Council embarked on a plan to expand the amount of money available in an endowed scholarship fund to support students from our synod in seminary.  Now, due to the generosity of many, our fund has grown to more than $60,000, and it is time for our first awards.

Escamilla2.jpgJesus Escamilla (lay minister and mission developer at San Gabriel, Alvarado) will receive full tuition support for his next year at the Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest in Austin.  He is a candidate for ordained ministry in the TEEM program.

Marple.jpgJealaine Marple (member of Faith, Wichita Falls) is a senior student at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.  She has just completed her internship year in Sumner, Iowa.  Her scholarship grant will assist her in paying a portion of her tuition in the coming year.

Buuck.jpgLibby Buuck (member of Calvary, Richland Hills) is yet another recipient.  Libby’s award, however, comes from the national Fund for Leaders program of the ELCA (of which our synod fund is a part) and will cover full tuition for her first year of study at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio.

As we have been blessed, now we bless others with the gift of new, energetic, and gifted leadership.  Learn more about the Fund for Leaders Endowment Fund or inquire with Pastor Stan Meyer (214.637.6865) about the Fund’s DVD.
