This February during Heart Month, and especially during Congenital Heart Disease Awareness Week (February 7-14), the Adult Congenital Heart Association wants to educate the public about CHD—specifically that congenital heart defects are the number one birth defect and that they require lifelong care.
Whether you have CHD or a loved one in your life with CHD, there are many things you can do to help us spread the word. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Share our new 2015 social media images on all venues (read more about this below!)
Print the social media awareness badge and post it on public bulletin boards in your local community.
Take the Meil Family Foundation Valentine Challenge and donate to ACHA this month! Your donation is worth 50% more in February.
If you're not already attending the Congenital Heart Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., on February 25-26, stay tuned to learn how you can take action and educate lawmakers about CHD from home!
Write a letter to your newspaper and contact your local radio and TV stations to educate them on the importance of lifelong care for CHD every day of the year, but especially during Heart Month and CHD Awareness Week.
As mentioned above, you can use social media—and especially your Facebook page—to help us spread the word by updating your cover and profile photos. We also made a CHD awareness badge that you can share with your real-life and online friends. Just follow these instructions to use and share the images:
