Herron for Governor Campaign Hits $650,000
Named one of the top internet fundraising campaigns in the U.S.
Nashville—Democratic candidate for Governor and State Senator Roy Herron (D-Dresden) today announced his fundraising totals. His gubernatorial campaign will report more $650,000, including raising more than $100,000 online.
Herron accomplished this despite a statutory ban on fundraising during the legislative session until June 1st and session lasting through June 18th. Herron’s three primary opponents have not been hampered by such a prohibition and have been free to raise funds all year long.
Herron raised $100,089 on the internet. At one point his campaign was called the fourth (4th) “hottest” in the entire country by the Democratic on-line fundraising clearinghouse ActBlue, which also is being used by his Democratic opponents. Herron’s funds come from 1,973 contributors, including supporters in most Tennessee counties.
His campaign reports $603,903 in cash on hand.
The Dresden Democrat said, “Old-fashioned hard work, brand new ideas and wonderful friends have been the keys to our fundraising success, and they are the keys to leading Tennessee forward in creating good jobs, strengthening education and improving healthcare. This far exceeds our goals and others’ expectations. This overwhelming support proves we are on track to get the support we need to win.”
