Dear Friends;
Each and every day, we are grateful for the opportunity we have to help the women, children and families in our community. We work tirelessly to ensure our clients receive the knowledge and resources they require, thereby empowering them to live the best life they can.
Thanks to the dedicated Board of Directors and staff of HMHB of Broward, hundreds of babies are born with a healthy start to life; women battling maternal depression receive counseling to effectively nurture and bond with their baby; children are spared from abuse and neglect because their parents are taught effective parenting and relationship building skills; and most importantly, we continued to save the lives of our little ones by reducing the risks of prematurity and addressing issues of preventable infant death. And in the unfortunate circumstances where babies’ lives are cut short, we are there to help them through their tragic experience.
On behalf of all of us at Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies of Broward County - thank you for your continued support. We wish you and your family all the best in the coming year.
Kathy Dunbar

Take a Baby Step for Healthy Babies
Shop The HMHB Online Mall Year-Round
At Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County we know the greatest gift one can receive is the gift of a healthy child. Unfortunately, many expectant mothers don't get this opportunity as, on average, the rate of fetal and infant mortality in Broward alone affects more than 300 families each year.
Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies is committed to changing this in the hopes that a parent or caregiver does not have to experience the pain of losing a child. You too can make a difference.
The HMHB Online Mall is packed with thousands of great items from nearly 100 popular stores. By simply taking a baby step to access these stores through the HMHB web site, a percentage of every sale will support our programs at no additional cost to you.

Recipe of the Month: Beef & Bean Chili Verde
A Folic-Acid Rich Make Ahead Meal
January is National Birth Defects Awareness month, and one of the best things women of all ages can do - but especially women of childbearing age - is get the daily recommended 400 micrograms allowance of the B9 vitamin, aka, Folic Acid.
Our featured recipe for Chile Verde packs a folic acid punch, and while usually a slow-cooked stew, Eatingwell.com has transformed it to an easy weeknight meal with quick-cooking ground beef, canned beans and store-bought green salsa. You can also cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days and warm before serving.
