The Ontario Building Code Cycle Consultations have begun. The province appears to be heading in a particular direction for water treatment and water storage with an emphasis on Water Conservation and Health and Safety.
Under Water Conservation: it is mentioned that the changes to the Building Code could support water conservation by:
- setting stricter water efficiency standards for plumbing fixtures
- clarifying existing requirements for rainwater harvesting
- improving the labeling of piping for non-potable water

Within Health & Safety: it is important to note that the first round of consultation will also address health and safety measures including requiring backflow prevention devices in more circumstances to protect potable drinking water. (Pg# 8)
