2012 BFA Senior Thesis Exhibition

Opening reception: First Friday, May 4, 5-8pm
Floors 1, 2, 3 in Porteous and the June Fizpatrick Gallery at MECA
The BFA Thesis exhibition honors four years of fine arts education at Maine College of Art. A curatorial team of three seniors, working with staff and other faculty organize the show. The thesis show brings each individual's education to fruition through their final body of work.
Each year, the thesis work of the BFA graduates is showcased online.

Graduation for students in the BFA, MFA, and Art Education programs at MEA. The speaker is
Helen Molesworth, Chief Curator of the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. The event is open to the public and no tickets are required.

New this year: Local Exploration
The rugged beauty of the Maine landscape has inspired artists for decades. This summer, classes take students on location to Cow Island, Fort Williams, Gilsland Farms, Peaks Island, and aboard a schooner in Casco Bay.
For Youth:
Summer courses for young artists are held in the professional studios of the Porteous Building.
Half-day and full-day options for ages 9-12 and 13-17.

Shirah Neumann MFA '12 won a fellowship to attend Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
Painting major Angela Rosensweig was selected to attend the Yale Summer School of Art.
Painting major Lydia Anderson is an intern at Christy's this summer.
Painting major Reesa Wood was accepted to the RISD MFA painting program.
Sculpture major Rob Doane '13 received the Cape Cod Modern House residency.
Sculpture major Isabel Kelley '13 is an intern at the International Sculpture Symposium this summer.
MECA's Public Engagement program received the President's Campus Leadership Award from Maine Campus Compact.

Located at 522 Congress Street in the heart of the Portland Arts District, MECA offers a BFA degree in 10 studio majors, an MFA in Studio Arts, a Post- Baccalaureate in Art Education and Continuing Studies for youths and adults. The Institute of Contemporary Art at MECA and the Joanne Waxman Library are free and open to the public.
