It's official! We are less than one month away from the BIGGEST IPPF Annual Meeting -- EVER! There will be over 220 attendees at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel in Boston, MA, with more speakers, more breakouts, more talks on pemphigoid, more experts on oral involvement, and more, more, more!
Space is limited so if you haven't registered, NOW is the time!
Our Saturday Evening Gala Dinner will feature food, awards, and fun! This event is FIVE-STAR from start to finish! Entertainment will be provided by the Berklee College of Music AND the New England Conservatory! Massachusetts Senator and former Democratic Presidential nominee John Kerry is scheduled to give the evening's keynote speech. There will also be time afterwards to mingle with the speakers! The IPPF graciously asks attendees to dress appropriately for this event.
*On-site registration fees are $200 attendee/$75 caregiver.
Have you heard about ST18?
There was a lot of chatter on Facebook and in the Email Discussion Group last week about ST18. In case you missed it, Dr. Eli Sprecher and many others have been working for the past two years on identifying P/P prevalence in certain groups of people.
It has been shown Ashkenazi Jews have a higher incident rate. Now the ST18 gene has been shown to be "associated with the increased incidence of pemphigus vulgaris in Jewish and Egyptian patients...[and] carriers of the genetic changes have a 6-fold elevated risk of developing the disease."
The IPPF's MAB - and many other P/P researchers - will continue to evaluate Dr. Sprecher's work and the IPPF will keep you informed!
