Greetings!
The MEHA Board of Directors has proposed amendments to the Constitution and By Laws (C&BL). The MEHA membership will have the opportunity to vote on these amendments at the Annual Educational Conference. This information is being provided to you now as prior written notification per the MEHA Bylaws.
Available at this link is a pdf document where deletions are crossed out and additions are in colored text. The changes, other than formatting, that have been incorporated to the document include:
-
The addition of a Table of Contents.
-
The document is divided into a Constitution and Bylaw section. Historically, MEHA has had one document, which was labeled with a constitution and a bylaw section.
-
The membership year was updated to reflect the change that the MEHA Board voted on in 2004. In 2004 the start of the membership year was changed from January to July.
-
Corporate Sponsor was removed as a Membership class. No Corporate Sponsor definition has been found in MEHA archives to support this as a membership type.
-
Absentee voting procedure was in conflict in two areas. These statements were clarified and a more precise timeline for the postmarking of absentee ballots was included.
-
Board members are all MEHA Directors. In some places they were called Representatives.
-
Southwest Sanitarian Seminar (SSS) was changed to Southwest Michigan Environmental Health Association (SWMEHA). Their name was recently officially changed.
Please review all proposed amendments. The changes are mainly to clean up the document, and to reflect how MEHA has been conducting itself for quite some time. The document text for these “track changes” was found on the meha.net website in 2009, and at that time named “MEHA By-Laws”.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact a MEHA Board member. Ballots will be available at the AEC. If you will need an absentee ballot, please contact the MEHA secretary by email.
