On behalf of the MEHA Executive Board, this conveys our best wishes for a happy holiday season to all
MEHA members and their families.
With 2012 fast approaching MEHA is in the final stages of preparation for the MEHA Annual Education
Conference. In addition to a not-to-be-missed educational program, the AEC provides the opportunity
for the association to honor MEHA members who have made exceptional contributions to MEHA
and the profession during the past year, and to hold our annual election for vacant executive board
positions. Your participation is welcome – plan to attend the AEC, make an award nomination, and run

Endowment Committee Update:
The Endowment Committee held another successful golf outing on August 26th. We golfed at a new course this year, Marywood Golf Course, near Battle Creek. Both the weather and the course were beautiful! The Committee, with the help of many dedicated MEHA supporters, raised $750.07 for the Endowment Fund. There were 38 golfers and 7 event sponsors. We are planning to go back for another outing in August 2012.
Our next fundraising event will be the annual Silent Auction. The Auction will be held during the Annual Educational Conference in Kalamazoo on March 28 – 30, 2012. The Committee is actively seeking donations for the auction. Donations can be anything from a handmade item to a weekend getaway. Examples of previous donations include: handmade jewelry, handmade towels, handmade dog bowl stand, watches, framed artwork, ipod shuffle, weekend stay at Beaver Island, golf outing packages, chocolate gift basket, handmade furniture, wine tasting certificate and hotel stays. All donations are tax deductible.
Endowment Fund SCHOLARSHIPS are available! The scholarships are available for college students. For details visit the website at www.meha.net click on “membership” and “scholarships”. All paperwork must be received by February 1, 2012. If you have any questions about the Endowment Committee, our events or making a donation, please contact Tricia Dreier at 616-355-1339 or by email. Licensure Update:
In the New Year MEHA will be increasing its activity on the licensure front. Steve Hall, MEHA licensure committee chair, and Tyrone Sanders of PAA, met with Senator Nofs staff on November 16th to plan our next steps for the licensure effort. We’re expecting a report by the first of the year from Governor Snyder’s committee which has been assessing Michigan’s professional licensing programs. The report may provide us with insight on our best approach for licensure or mandatory registration. Our goal is to have a bill introduced in Michigan’s Senate in February, 2012.
Suggestions from MEHA members are always welcome. Telephone numbers and e-mail addresses for
MEHA board members are posted at www.meha.net.
Best Regards and Merry Christmas!
