NYC Regional Festival a Big Success!
The first annual NYC Regional AYCO festival was a huge success- many thanks to Circus Warehouse, festival director Viveca Gardiner, Keith and Stephanie of the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, and all of our volunteers and sponsors.  The festival sold out weeks before the event, and the 150 attendees enjoyed 4 workshops, a showcase, and a pizza party.  Participants came from seven different states and ranged in age from 4 to 64!

UK Academy of Circus Arts Auditions
The UK's Academy of Circus Arts is coming up to its 20th year of training students in a wide variety of circus skills, while at the same time educating them in the circus way of life.

ACA was founded in 1993 by Martin Burton, who is Zippo the Clown and the Director of Zippo’s Circus. At first, the Academy worked alongside Zippo’s, but it is now an entirely separate company. The Academy of Circus Arts stands out from other circus training schools because it doesn't have a permanent base - for much of each year they are on tour in Britain, performing at local festivals.

Students live the circus life on tour in bunk rooms and living trailers, and help build-up, pull-down, and stage-manage for themselves and others, so our graduates are extremely employable as fully-fledged members of the circus community as well as being versatile trained artistes.  ACA grads have gone on to work in professional circus worldwide.

ACA is assessing applications right now for next year.  The next course begins in April 2012, and runs for five months.  All details, including costs and a contact email, are available here

Circus Smirkus Big Top Tour Auditions
Circus Smirkus is now accepting video applications for the 2012 Big Top Tour.  The deadline is November 11!  Videos will then be reviewed and performers selected will be invited to attend live auditions  in January, after which the final troupe selection will be made.
