SIMPLE GIFTS
Gifts of love come to us and the seniors we serve through our meal programs. Simple gifts from many people. Daniel Teehan and his wife, Susan Gentry, who live “over the hill”, will give us 100 turkey dinners at this holiday season. This is the second year they have done so. Last year they lost everything they owned in a fire, and decided they wanted to give their own special gifts to people in need. Daniel collects money from friends, buys complete cooked turkey dinners from Safeway, and coordinates with our staff, Susan Deixler, and Chloe Cook, Meals Coordinator. Chloe picks up the food and gets a crew together, including her mother, Susan, and volunteer Emmanuel Serriere. They carve the turkeys and divvy up the food into individual portions for delivery to homebound seniors. Some meals are given directly to the people on our meal program, and others are frozen for emergency situations.

The gift of home-cooked meals continues to involve more and more community members. Marin Organic delivers surprises to us on a weekly basis—crisp fresh romaine came last week, fresh beets and kale the week before. They deliver wonderful greens which we give to Stockstill House, cooks, and restaurants who make yummy meals for our programs. Lunny Ranch has done the same, giving us organic sausage and meats. We are blessed in this community with many generous people who give us simple gifts. Thank you. You make a difference to those in need.
