Dear Praying Friends:

Wow! Things have been “a-buzz” on campus! The Annual Men and Boys Retreat was attended by over 80 men and boys. It was a wonderful weekend and the following testimony from Pastor Jeff Bartz, Associate Pastor at Grace Baptist in Batavia, pretty much sums up the great weekend that we had.

“The Men & Boys Retreat was a very meaningful time for my son and me.  It afforded us the opportunity to have one of our "Man Talks," which undoubtedly, will be remembered as a milestone in both of our lives.  Everything about the retreat was fantastic!  Those who went from our church are still talking about it!  The speaker, Don Jackson, was an excellent communicator and masterfully connected the dots from our lives, both young and old, to the Word of God.  The activities were thrilling, just what you would hope for at a retreat for men and boys!  We had a blast in the water, on the boats, tubes and skis.  We did the climbing wall, gaga ball, carpet ball, and had a riot on the paintball field!  Of course, I would be remiss if I did not include a word about the "Man Food" - it was excellent and all you could eat!   This retreat was an unforgettable experience for my son and me.  Next year we hope to bring a bunch more guys!”

The Annual Teen Retreat was well attended with about 200 teens, sponsors and staff in attendance.  We are VERY thankful for ALL, who participated, volunteered, prayed for and supported this annual event. Mel Walker encouraged us to “Do BIG things” with our lives by doing “little” things, and by doing “something”. Being faithful to God, following carefully in His ways, enduring trials and afflictions and having genuine faith were all part of Mel’s encouragement throughout the weekend.  The teens were more than excited to hear that a Winter Teen Retreat is being planned for February 25-26, 2011.  Mark your calendar and plan now to attend.

September 26th was a special day in our home church of Glen Baptist. In the morning we voted on accepting Brandon Craig as our new youth intern. We are excited about how God will use him at Glen. The Lamoka Board of Directors approved of Brandon living at camp in the Guest House, and we are thrilled to have him as part of our church family AND our camp family. Please pray for Brandon as he gets settled in with many details to care for in these initial days of transition.

The evening of September 26th at Glen Baptist was our Area-Wide Singspiration. This is always a highlight of our year! It’s a wonderful time of music and fellowship and the love offering always goes to Camp Lamoka. We wish to thank the following churches for their generous giving:

  • Harvest Baptist, Bath
  • Bradford Baptist, Bradford, NY
  • Calvary Baptist, Gibson
  • Glen Baptist, Watkins Glen

Last Friday evening was our Praise Banquet. It is always such a special time of fellowship! We wish to thank Veronica Hunt and the Ernhout Family for such a beautiful job preparing the food for the evening. Our thanks to Cindy Henry and Dee Kennedy for the decorations! The testimonies and music were a real blessing and we wish to thank: The Lindmark Family, Michael Delio, Elizabeth Wood, Brandon Craig and Pastor Mike Paris for their ministry. Our deepest appreciation to ALL who attended!

We are preparing for another month full of retreats. Please see details on each of the weekends below, and please keep us in your prayers.

Lovingly in Christ,

Chip, Karen, Elizabeth, Johnathon and Katherine
