Hello, Kathy, As the weather warms up, our schedules may, too. Let the spring growth push you and your children outdoors. Take walks together, listen to spring peepers, and watch trees bud and leaf out.

What about social skills? Nicknamed "the s word" among homeschoolers, socialization is a particular concern for us parents with children who learn differently. We want our children to learn to get along and make friends, to converse, deal with anger, and solve problems. It's important for their careers and their future happiness.
This month I review Cathi Cohen's book, _Raise Your Child's Social IQ._ She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with years of experience helping children and adolescents develop social skills. Distilling her Stepping Stones training program into a book for parents to use, she gives you tools to help your children develop many basic skills, from joining in and reading social signals, to dealing with teasing and stress, and resolving conflict.
There are no quick and easy shortcuts. No book will cover everything your child needs, but this book may help.

Links of the Month This month''s links come from the Learning Disabilities Association''s annual national conference, which I attended last month. LDA helps folks with all kinds of learning problems. --Have a struggling writer? Learn some great tips from an expert I heard at the conference. --Do you find it too easy to waste time on the Internet? Learn about two tools to help you limit the time you spend on the web. --Many of us prefer to write our own materials, but some days you might want help. Two websites offer lesson plans and worksheets.

Become a fan of Homeschooling Your Struggling Learner on Facebook I don't produce a newsletter every month. Another way to keep in touch with me is by becoming a fan of my book on Facebook. There I occasionally post videos and links. They are different from those on my website, so check out both places.
