During the opening days of dOCUMENTA(13) in Kassel, Germany, Absolute Art Bureau announced the new format of the Absolut Art Award. Presented in Stockholm annually, the award now introduces two new categories: art work and art writing.
dOCUMENTA (13) artistic director Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev has been appointed as the prize's new jury president, walking in the footsteps of Pompidou Centre curator Christine Macel, and Moderna Museet director Daniel Birnbaum. She will select four jury members, who will in turn choose ten nominators, each asked to shortlist five artists and one writer.
The Absolut Art Bureau is responsible for The Absolut Company’s international art initiatives and has been active since 1985 has collaborated with more than 500 artists on over 800 commissioned projects.
Each summer, the San Francisco Art Institute offers audiences though provoking series of lectures. This year, the main themes will be: the resonance between artistic historical movements in contemporary society and the practice of art criticism.
The first important lecture will take place over two days on 11 and 12 July. Its topic will be “Diego Rivera and the Mexican Mural Movement: A Contemporary Perspective on Art and Activism”.
Afterwards, on 27 and 28 July, conceptual artist Hans Wikler will tackle contemporary culture and its relationship with consumption

Artist Spencer Tunick has been documenting the live nude figure in public, with photography and video, since 1992. Tunick's installations encompass dozens, hundreds or thousands of volunteers; and his photographs are records of these events. The individuals en masse, without their clothing, grouped together metamorphose into a new shape. The bodies extend into and upon the landscape like a substance.

It was Nikolaus Bachler,  Opera’s Director, who had commissioned "The Ring" based on Wagner's Rings of the Nibelung for the Munich Opera Festival opening.

The main pattern of the art installation was a large circle in front of the Bayerische Staatsoper (National Opera of Bavaria). On the Ludwigstraße, one of the town’s main streets, about a hundred bodies formed a huge flame, symbolizing hell in Wagner’s piece.
The main installation for this collaboration between Spencer and the Bayerische Staatsoper took place on Saturday morning, June 23rd in a very striking number of setups which have been extensively covered by the press.
The Occupy movement had other qualms with the artist and moved into his vacant central London home for a brief protest that barely lasted 24 hours. Within that period the group managed to make it’s presence known to Kapoor via social media; the chosen platform for all modern political fervor.
The point the group was trying so elaborately to develop surrounds the pricing to enter the vertigo inducing ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower designed by Kapoor. To scale the enormous tower standing at 377 feet tall, the public is asked to pay £15 a figure even Kapoor is not comfortable with. He stated; “It's a hell of a lot of money”.
The movement believes that the Olympics, and by connection Kapoor are deliberately drawing attention towards the Olympic games to avoid addressing issues such as the rapidly deepening Euro crisis, austerity measures sweeping the European countries at an alarming rate, and most importantly the commodification of art.
