Do you like to read, and are you looking for a new extracurricular activity that will be academically beneficial?  Then Battle of the Books is for you! OLGC is hoping once again this year to have a team participate in the Battle of the Books competition. Last week Mrs. Mary Ann Overbeck, moderator, met with the 7th & 8th graders to explain the program. Meetings will be held on Thursdays after school from 3:00-4:00 in the school library in preparation for the regional competition to be held in the spring. So far four students have signed up, but we will need a team of six students to participate. If any 7th or 8th grader would like to be part of the team, please give your name and email to Mrs. Robinson crobinson@olgc.me by Monday, October 22, and she will pass the information to Mrs. Overbeck. Hopefully, OLGC will have a team of six who will have fun reading and learning and participating in the competition with other local schools!

Emergency Alert System for Parents

Good Counsel School uses the Honeywell Instant Alert System as our primary means of notification both for emergency school closings and also for general school announcements. Since the school intends to use the system for school announcements, it is recommended that parents revisit their alert setup and review which alert types (school closings, general) on which contact devices (home phone, work phone, mobile, cell text and/or email) they would like to receive information.  Parents may want to consider using all possible devices for school closings but only the home phone and email for general school announcements. Please log on to activate or update your profile at https://instantalert.honeywell.com.

**AMAZON SMILE
