Welcome New Staff to OLGC

With the beginning of school right around the corner, we would like to welcome the new Good Counsel Staff members.

CONGRATULATIONS to Ms. Samantha Powers, OLGC Graduate of ‘06, and Mr. Charles DiGuglielmo on their August 2018 engagement!!  Ms. Powers and Mr. DiGuglielmo are planning their 2020 wedding here at OLGC, and we wish them all of our blessings, love, and best wishes!

We wish a warm and heartfelt farewell to Mr. Christopher Quinn, Mrs. MaryRose Adams, Mrs. Colleen Wolfram, Mrs. Tamez, and Mrs. Nilda Neil.  These educators have been embraced by all who have come into their path. They will be greatly missed, and their new journeys will benefit immensely from all of their skills, talents, and most importantly their kindness. With much love and prayers, we thank them for their service to Catholic Education and sharing their hearts and minds with us.

Dear OLGC Community--
It has been a pleasure to be a part of OLGC. I was welcomed here two years ago with open arms and open hearts. But this year, my journey has taken me in a new direction. In September, I will be teaching English in the public school system. I will take with me fond memories of the teachers, administrators, and parents of OLGC. I will miss this community dearly, and I ask for your prayers as I keep you in mine. Thank you for everything. --Chris Quinn

Dear OLGC Family,

How truly fast time passes! After 28 years at OLGC, I am now on a new path called retirement! I couldn’t possibly express how grateful I am to have been part of this family. It has truly been my second home. The administrators, faculty, staff, OLGC Families, and children have afforded me the opportunity for friendships that I know will continue in the future. I will pray for your success and happiness and for that of the entire OLGC family. Thank you for all the wonderful memories.

With Love, Nilda Neil

Dear OLGC Family,

After working at OLGC for 22 years, I have decided to retire. I have been so fortunate to have worked with such a great group of people and I will always have such fond memories of all the families I have met over the years. I wish you all the best in the coming years.  Respectfully, Nancy Tamez

Emergency Alert System for Parents

Good Counsel School uses the Honeywell Instant Alert System as our primary means of notification both for emergency school closings and also for general school announcements. Since the school intends to use the system for school announcements, it is recommended that parents revisit their alert setup and review which alert types (school closings, general) on which contact devices (home phone, work phone, mobile, cell text and/or email) they would like to receive information.  Parents may want to consider using all possible devices for school closings but only the home phone and email for general school announcements. Please log on to activate or update your profile at https://instantalert.honeywell.com.

The Catholic School Difference
A new study shows the benefit of demanding student self-discipline.

For the thousands of nuns who have served as principals at Catholic schools, their emphasis on self-discipline must seem like common sense. But a new academic study confirms the sisters are onto something: You can instill self-discipline in students, a virtue that will help them in their studies and later in life….

I am looking forward to a fun filled year with many different activities and events for everyone.  Before we start the year, there are many forms that need your attention, please fill out these forms ASAP and send them into school during the first week so we can continue our planning!  It’s the little details that are vital...little things make big things happen!
