HOLIDAY PARADES
Holiday parades will be held throughout the Triangle during December. We've provided a list of towns hosting parades below, as well as the date and time of each parade. (The Raleigh Christmas Parade took place in November.)

N.C. Museum of History Presents Time for Tots: Seasonal Symbols
From menorahs to Moravian stars, find out what different symbols of
winter holidays mean. Make your own stenciled place mat to take home. Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. for ages 3-5. To register, call (919) 807-7992.

Bring the kids out to the North Carolina Museum of Art for drop-in crafts Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is for all ages and is free. Learn more here.

'Disney on Ice: Worlds of Fantasy' is Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
Rev up for non-stop fun with high-speed stunts from Lightning McQueen, Mater and the crew of Disney/Pixar’s "Cars" movie. Dive into The Little Mermaid’s enchanting undersea
kingdom and experience the ’Circle of Life’ with The Lion King. Then
enter into the magical world of Pixie Hollow with Tinker Bell and all
her fairy friends as they make their world premiere on ice. Learn more here.
'Phantom of the Opera' Comes to the Durham Performing Arts Center Nov. 26-Dec. 20
This
classic play written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and directed by Harold
Prince features lavish sets, costumes and special effects. A tragic
love story of a beautiful opera singer and young composer ashamed of
his physical appearance, this may be more appropriate for older children. Learn more about the show schedule and tickets here.
Broadway Series South Presents 'Cirque Dreams - Holidaze'
From the creators of the groundbreaking Broadway hit, "Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy,' comes a new holiday musical of season's dreamings
hailed by the New York Daily News as 'charm, sparkle and talent by the
sleighload.' The show will be presented Dec. 1-6 at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. Learn more here.

DECEMBER MOVIE RELEASES
"The Princess and the Frog," rated G, arrives in
theaters Dec. 11 and stars Anika Noni Rose, Keith David and Jenifer Lewis.
Free-spirited Prince Naveen of Maldonia deals with a shady doctor and is
turned into a frog. In a desperate attempt to reacquire his human form, Prince
Naveen embarks on a hilarious adventure through Louisiana and Mississippi with
the beautiful Tiana. Watch the

"Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakel" is rated PG and arrives in theaters
Dec. 23. Alvin,
Simon and Theodore end up in the care of Dave Seville’s nephew Toby (Zachary Levi). The boys must put aside
music superstardom to return to school, and save the
school’s music program by winning the $25,000 prize in a battle of the
bands. But the Chipmunks unexpectedly meet their match in three singing
chipmunks known as "The Chipettes" – Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette. Watch the trailer here.
"Sherlock Holmes" arrives in theaters on Christmas Day. In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous
characters, "Sherlock Holmes" sends Holmes and
Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal
as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring
down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the
