It has been an incredible summer for us folks at Fireclay Tile. Besides doing what we love most - making beautiful tile for all our wonderful customers - we have been ramping up our new Crush recycled glass tile factory, developing some great new products, and having a lot of fun! We also have been so fortunate to receive some wonderful press this summer, including Architectural Products, House Beautiful, and a wonderful article about sustainable manufacturing by our Chief Ceramicist, Paul Burns, in Ceramic Industry.
For those in San Jose, CA we will be hosting our bi-annual Showroom and Boneyard sale, with 20% off all new Fireclay Tile orders and 50% off all Boneyard orders. The sale will run from Saturday, September 24 through Saturday, October 8.
We are also proud of some of our more recent environmental initiatives, and after almost a year of R&D we have successfully been crushing more recycled materials to bring our Debris Series to over 70% recycled materials, with no impact on our quality or colors. In fact, we think our product has only gotten better. And we're thrilled to see our efforts to recycled old toilets and bathtubs has inspired some of the bigger manufacturers to start doing the same (check out our Toilet's Anyone? blog post here). At the same time our new recycled glass product has allowed us to keep over 18 tons (or 35,000 lbs) of material out of landfill, and that's only after a few months!
Lastly, we would also love to ask our friends to vote for us in a contest being sponsored by the Wall Street Journal highlighting companies that have innovated during the economic downturn. To vote, please click here.
As always, thank you for your support. We hope to inspire your next project!
Ciao Bella + Fireclay Tile = COLOR!
A big congratulations to our friends at Ciao Bella Gelato on the opening of their newly remodeled Ferry Building location. We love that they went BIG on color, and their design included over 30 colors from our Debris Series Recycled Tile line. Beyond Ciao Bella's goal to create an environmentally friendly environment, they wanted a look that spoke to their brand of fun, colorful, and vibrant. Ciao Bella's VP of Marketing, Deborah Holt, commented that Fireclay's tiles "perfectly colored to match Ciao Bella’s signature aesthetic: bright and exciting shades inspired by the brand’s award-winning desserts." We think it looks fantastic. And if you do find yourself choosing between Ciao Bella flavors, we love their Mint Chocolate Chip!
We will be holding our annual Fall Sale at our San Jose Factory Showroom this month from September 24 - October 8. All new in-store Fireclay Tile orders will be 20% off, including our Boneyard! Come see our new glass tile factory in action and all our wonderful new display boards! And if you haven't been by lately, we have completely revamped our Boneyard to make it more easy to shop and a much better customer experience.
Introducing Jason - Crush Factory Manager
We are thrilled to welcome Jason Paskus to our team to lead our Crush factory. Jason joined us in May, and since then has taken charge of producing the highest quality, most beautiful recycled glass tile in the world! With previous experience at Green Depot (formerly Ecohaus) and Greenspace, he understands both our environmental goals, but also the end-user and what it means to produce with excellence in mind.
When asked "why Fireclay?" Jason commented: "I have been very impressed for a long time by the recycling practices that Fireclay has implemented into its tile production. So when I was asked to join the team and contribute to Fireclay's development of yet another recycled material tile line, I could not turn it down. I would have to say that it does not get much better then a 3"x6" in Habanero fresh from the kiln."
If you haven't yet had the chance to experience Crush first hand, please let us know so we can show you what Jason and his team make every day!
Amicus Green Building Supply is a green building materials showroom in Kensington, MD. Jason Holstine, its owner, and the entire staff do an amazing job working with customers and selling Fireclay Tile. Jason comments, "Fireclay provides us with a tremendous design palette and sustainability story —continuing to push the green envelope, made in America by dedicated artisans, and showing that old school methods can still make art a business. We are really stoked about the idea of combining the Debris ceramics and Crush glass into beautiful integrated designs. In projects big and small, Fireclay products play well with other materials and imaginations."
