AMAZING!
For the 800+ who attended the 21st NAEHCY Conference in Denver, wasn't it amazing?! Thanks to all who worked to make it a worthwhile event! McKinney-Vento Homeless Education law is a great "gift" for kids without homes in this country! You now have a chance to "give" an even greater gift.
My 2010 route (lots of wiggle room!) is on the LCE section of our HEAR US website. This is a great time to let me know you're interested in a visit from the HEAR US LCE. The focus--families/teens in motels/doubled up. I can also do presentations while I'm in town.
A humble, embarrassing plea for help: If you placed an order or are awaiting a receipt or reply from me and haven't heard anything, please rattle my cage. Being a 1-person operation has its drawbacks! So sorry.

HIGH VISIBILITY! A great news story about HEAR US ran on Fox Chicago (and many affiliates) recently. Then Huffington Post picked it up, and re-posted. Don't miss it! Commenting helps!

LEARNING CURVE EXPRESS UPDATE
From Concord, MA to Concord, CA! The HEAR US LCE will spend time in Sacramento, where homelessness got real distorted over the tent city hoopla a couple months ago. Getting word out about homeless families and teens, especially in motels or doubled up, is the HEAR US/LCE mission.
The LEARNING CURVE EXPRESS will make sure policymakers and the public hear from experts--homeless families and teens. You can help! Please share and view the LCE short interviews.

REACH is the BEST M-V TOOL!
At the NAEHCY conference, Dave, the Wasilla (AK) liaison gushed praise about the REACH video. We thought it was good, but he more than confirmed it! He uses it for all his trainings--not just for/about incarcerated parents.
McKinney-Vento helps kids who lose housing when their parent goes to jail. HEAR US offers the 11-minute REACH video and companion brochure (English and Spanish) which contain vital info on M-V, including a toll-free number (NCHE/Serve helpline) and a tear-off postcard. You can purchase the brochures or get the license to print them locally.
This is the perfect training and outreach tool for every district. Order now!

UPDATE: NEW NAME-- The HEAR US feature-length documentary of mothers and single women who have experienced homelessness, "On the Edge" has been renamed "Best Kept Secrets"documentary professor at NIU, and I agree that "secrets" are at the heart of this powerful documentary. My first time watching the entire piece brought tears to my eyes, a rare occasion.
As I traverse the country on the LCE mission, I'll share our rough cut of Best Kept Secrets with the women who shared their secrets, a true honor. I'm deeply grateful for Laura and Andrew's gifts of vision, perseverance and talent, and treasure the opportunity to be involved in this amazing project. (working title).
Thanks for all your support and encouragement!
