As stated at last month's EGM, Members will elect a new Board at this meeting (the current Board will resign as Trustees at the end of the meeting). We therefore require Poetry Society Members to nominate candidates they believe will be suitable candidates to sit on the new Board.
Nominations should be made by completing the Nomination form
, which requires the signatures of three Poetry Society members, along with confirmation that the candidate is willing to act as a Trustee and able to attend approx 5 meetings per year in central London starting at 5pm. A CV is also required.
The forms must arrive at the Poetry Society, by post or via email@example.com, by Thursday 18 August
. Mark your correspondence as ‘Trustee nomination
The nominee names will then be added to our website and sent to Members on 26 August, along with full details on the voting process, including proxy votes for those unable to attend the AGM in person.
NOTE:The Poetry Society Board consists of up to 14
Trustees, 12 of whom must be elected and a further 2 who can be
co-opted onto the Board if required. Those receiving the maximum number
of votes are elected. Society members can vote by proxy or by attending the meeting. If the number of
nominations does not exceed or is equal to the number of vacancies then
each candidate shall be deemed appointed.

- A demonstrable interest in all aspects of poetry, including written, studied, spoken, electronic, and performance is essential.
The Poetry Society is over 100 years old and is a very successful organisation with a small, highly professional, dedicated team based in London. This team is passionate to see poetry and poets thrive, throughout the UK, in all media, addressing all age groups. This is a challenging time for all publicly funded organisations and the Poetry Society will require a skilled and very committed team of Trustees to steer it through the coming months and years. If you have any queries, do not hesitate to contact us. Laura Bamford, Acting Chair firstname.lastname@example.org
