Mother Teresa advised, “Try to feel the need for prayer often during the day and take the trouble to pray.  Prayer makes the heart large enough until it can contain God’s gift of Himself.”

PLEASE PRAY FOR:  The Penney family; Fr. Jim; Rose Pufahl, mother of Mrs. White; Fr. Peter Campbell, MSC; Miss Jaworski’s Aunt Sue;  Mrs. Lisa Gaspero; Mr. Isdale; Andy Hellstern; Nathan and Olivia Gartlan’s Uncle Tim; Julianne Rurka’s Aunt Barb Meindl;  Jim Walsh; all of our family members, friends, and neighbors serving in the armed forces, especially for Matt Duquette, John Houston, and Matt DuPre; and, all of your special intentions.

NO BUS HOME:  On Friday, February 5th, there will be NO BUS HOME.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!  Congratulations to our 2nd graders who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Monday, February 1st.  May God bless each and every one of you today and always.
SNACKS: Thank you to all of our generous “snack” donors.  We are good for now and have replenished our cupboard’s supply.  However, please double check you child’s snack/lunch to make sure they have enough food to get them through the day.  You might want to make it a joint effort.  Thanks so much.

ST. IRENE SCHOOL 12TH ANNUAL APPEAL:  The mailing for the St. Irene School 12th Annual Appeal should have arrived at all of your homes.  Our goal this year is to raise $50,000.  Please contact Laura McGowan (laura@mcgowansonline.com) if you have any questions.

ST. IRENE SCHOOL OPEN HOUSES:  We will have an open house on Friday, February 5, after our all-school Mass.   We are also hosting a special St. Mary’s open house tomorrow, February 5 at 12:30 pm in the ACL.  We welcome St. Mary’s families to “Come Home to St. Irene.”  Please continue to pray for all during this transition.

New families transferring in to grades 1-8 will receive special tuition discounts under our Catholics Come Home tuition incentive program.  More students in seats means a better education for all our children.  In addition, recommending a new family for St. Irene can really pay off!  If you (a current St. Irene School family) recommend a family that enrolls in St. Irene School for 2010-2011, we will waive your family’s Manna requirement for the year!
REGISTRATION:  Enclosed, in today’s brown envelope, is your 2010 - 2011 registration form.  Please carefully read all attached materials to the registration form.  We are asking our parents to return their forms along with the registration fee before March 1, 2010.  We are looking for an accurate number of seats that we are able to fill as this outpouring of inquiries is taking place.  Thank you so much for your unending support to our wonderful school.
CHILI COOK-OFF:  Please mark your calendars for Saturday, February 20th, for the annual Chili Cook-off.  The event begins at 6:00 P.M. This event is sponsored by our Athletic Association.  Bring your family and friends.  However, you must be 21 to attend.
BAND:  Some important dates are coming up:  March 4th, 7:00pm is the Mid-Year Concert and March 6th is Solo Festival.  Solo Festival is a very positive experience for your child.  It is a chance to play with a piano player and earn a medal while getting important feed back from another music educator.  Please don't forget to sign-up your child for this worthwhile event!

STUDENTS ARE IN UNIFORMS TODAY.

Our 8th graders did a wonderful job teaching classes today.  They submitted formal lessons plans and did a fabulous job!!!!  Perhaps we have some future teachers in our midst …

THANK YOU:  I cannot begin to tell all of you how much we appreciate all the time, talent, and treasure that has gone into the open houses, the hospitality, printing, creating marketing information, the foyer bulletin board, the St. Irene information board, helping in our communication of vital information…………the list is endless……..and, it just keeps going.  Our work is never done; however, all of you continue to be at our side to help us reach our goals.  We are forever grateful.

The St. Irene Teachers’ Appreciation luncheon was beautiful and the kind words shared touched our hearts.  Our school is a gem!  One of which I am extremely proud to be a part.

Thank you to School Board, PACE, and Athletics for all the hard work that you do for St. Irene on top of all the hard work you do outside of St. Irene.  As we move forward, our family relationship, which is so strong and integral to the climate of our school, will only grow even deeper.  May God continue to send His blessings upon us.

Blessings and Peace,

Mrs. Maureen White
