Youth Team Division Added

The 2011 Tampa Bay International Dragon Boat Races is introducing a Youth Division! Youth teams will receive a discounted entry fee into the festival and be eligible to win the Youth Challenge Cup! We have had entries from Bishop McLaughlin High School, Plant High School, Tampa Prep, and Jefferson High School in past years. It's time to dust off those paddles and gear up for 2011!

The Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Club has formed a youth team, which practices every Saturday at 10:30 am at the Marriott Waterside Marina.

Committees meet on an average of once per month and are responsible for carrying out multiple different functions of the Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Institute.

Saturday, September 18th: Mini Regatta from 8:00 to 11:00 am. This coffee

mini regatta will be located at the Tampa Convention Center, on our 250m mini regatta course. Complimentary coffee and juice will be included with your $10 per person registration fee. Full teams receive a discounted rate of $175. Please RSVP HERE by Wednesday, September 15th.

Saturday, October 23rd: Prelude to the World Championships - this event is a warm-up event to the 10th IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championship being hosted in Downtown Tampa on DBR_7171 Revised Logo

August 3-7, 2011. All levels of dragon boat teams are welcome!

"The Prelude" will demonstrate the use of the Seddon Channel race course at the 200m and 500m distances, the buoyed lanes, start line, finish line and start docks.

Registration fee for this event is $500 for teams of all racing classes. All racing classes will be entertained, but racing classes with less than 3 entries will be combined with other divisions. Only divisions with more than 3 entries will receive awards. All racing class regulations will follow the IDBF Competition Regulations.

November 1st - February 1st: Get Your Feet Wet - for a limited time, new teams are being offered a 45-minute introductory session to dragon boating. Stay tuned for the schedule, and make sure to send the info to friends and family who are interested in forming a dragon boat team.

Saturday, April 30th, 2011: 8th annual Tampa Bay International Dragon Boat Races - this is our annual Festival with over 70 teams racing to be Tampa's #1 dragon boat team! Coupled with a fantastic International Beer and Food Festival, this event attracts more than 10,000 spectators each year.
