Making Your Home Safe for
Trick-or-Treaters!
1. Make Way for the Spooks! Put away hoses, ladders, flowerpots, lawn furniture, wires, bikes, anything in the path of walkers which could cause them to trip or fall.
2. Shine the Light! Turn on porch and outside lights, replace burned-out exterior bulbs.
3. Make a Clean Sweep! Make walkways and porches clearly visable by sweeping away leaves and debris.
4. FIRE! - Keep lit jack-o-lanterns and candles away from dry leaves and other objects.
5. No Wolves Allowed! Keep excitable pets away from visitors. If your pet is likely to become frightened or excited by little spooks, consider putting them in a safe, quiet place during the festivities.
6. One for me, and one for you... Purchase individually wrapped candies, or hand out non-candy alternatives like colored pencils, erasers, or small pads of paper.
7. We Won't Leave the Light On for Ya! - If you are going out, don't leave the porch light on, this usually means you are ready for trick-or-treaters. Turn on home security systems and make sure doors and windows are locked.
8. Just Cruisen - If you are out driving, be cautious and go slowly, watch out for the little ones!
