Dear Friends,
It's almost time -- A time to say farewell to Lutheran Campus Ministry and KU. Some of the Seniors of LCM share their "good-bye" thoughts with you.
Departing Thoughts

As another school year ends, LCM sadly says goodbye to its graduating students. However, in their years here, memories are made and strong impressions are made. Here is what LCM has meant to some of these students:
Justin Moyers, Senior, Chemistry LCM has provided me with a spiritual element to educational growth while at KU. The LCM community provides spiritual growth through its nurturing, welcoming, and intellectual environment. Not a service passed without presence of these ever-present elements.
Amy Pettijohn, Graduate Student, Pharmacy My best memories from my three years at LCM will not be any of the specific times spent together in worship or events like trivia night or times serving at the homeless shelter, but rather of the relationships I have developed in this community we call LCM. We come from all walks of life with different interests, different majors, different dreams, and different histories, but God brought us into community at LCM. The friendships I have made here will last far beyond my leaving this wonderful community.
Tim Gabriel, Graduate Student, Church Music LCM has helped to keep me grounded as I try to keep up with school and work. I have made some close friends and had lots of good experiences. The New York and Germany trips are among my best memories of KU. Shawn does a fantastic job as campus pastor and I appreciate the work he puts into his sermons and maintenance of the ministry on campus.
Jeanette Bidne, Graduate Student, Luther Seminary Having grown up in the church, gone to an ELCA college and now to Luther Seminary we constantly discuss hospitality, sometime to the point where it seems more like a slogan than a reality. I am not an KU student, in fact I don't even live in Lawrence (my internship for seminary is in Olathe, KS) but I feel hospitality is reality at LCM. I am in my third year of four at Luther Seminary and pursuing a Masters in order to serve in ordained ministry. For Luther students, the third year of seminary involves being sent as an intern to congregations around the country. Coming from MN, I knew very few people in Kansas, but somehow I feel I have become part of this group. Not only have I been able to share worship and a meal weekly at LCM but the friendships I have made now extend outside a service on Sunday evening. When someone asks me where I see God the most, I have to respond “in people.” I am thankful that my time on internship included LCM, a place where I can worship, sing four-part harmony, have a good meal and some great laughs. I think we know how to have a good time. And I am thankful to be a part of that “we”. Now there’s hospitality for you!

LCM's "April Fuel" Benefit Concert
WHAT A NIGHT!!!
Challenger's Sports Bar and Grill in Overland Park was the location for the "April Fuel Night" on Friday, April 23. The music from three bands was explosive, exciting and excellent. We ended the evening with our Campaign total being $100,227.00. Another milestone for our "A Home at the Heart of the Hill" Campaign.
Many "THANKS" to the following people for making it a successful event: Ross, Mark and Chris from Challenger's, Leslie and Vern Schweder for handling the Raffle, John Kingsley for our sign. Others who contributed to the evening are: JoAnn Shane, Bob Diekmann, Jan Abbey, Roland Pera, Bryan Park, Charley Maahs. A special thanks goes to the bands, Dan Vogler and Wailin' Wall. Richard Wilson and the Sunday Morning Casualties. Tommy Woolridge and the KC Groove Therapy. It was certainly an outstanding evening with quality music.

Trivia Time
ANOTHER TRIVIA WINNER!
We have a winner from our March Trivia Contest. Sara Humburg of Wichita, KS has won the $25.00 Visa Gift Certificate. She was a member of LCM for 4 years. She planned the first trip to Germany and was Director of Leadership from 2008-2009, and graduated from KU in May 2008. She grew up in Great Bend, KS and is currently attending WSU and earning a BS in Dental Hygiene! CONGRATULATIONS, SARA!
THIS MONTH'S TRIVIA QUESTION IS.......
Who was the first full-time Lutheran campus pastor called to serve at KU? If you need some help, the answer is on the LCM@KU website.
LCM Website
As the semester comes to a close, the students at LCM are enjoying some final celebrations. On May 2nd, they will be leading worship at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lawrence, and Pastor Shawn is hosting a Stop-Day Eve party on the night before the final push through the stress of exam week. Help us by praying for insight and smart answers from May 10th through the 14th.
