A Message from the Deacon

You cannot save the world; it has already been saved.  What you can do is make one small part of it a little bit better.

Scenes from the Day!

Courage  & Destiny

Today we dug out the side of the mountain to put more dirt on the driveway to make it even and drain properly.  We also put another layer of tires on the retaining wall.

Team Highs:

Sitting in the house listening to our carpenters stories and his music

Cuddling with our adopted cats

Climbing deep into the brush and high on the mountain to clear it out

Using power tools

Dreams

Finished the water drainage ditch from yesterday (Laura) and worked on the foundation, painting, Randy’s sister’s house.

Team Highs:

Giving Laura the Bible when we left, she cried, gave us all hugs and thanked us over and over.

Going to Randy’s house and looking at the giant coal they had in the backyard.

Team Highs:

Playing with the kids on the trampoline

Watching the kids mess with us

Watching Scooby do with the kids.

From tonight's talk on "Love"

There are many different types of love- between parent and child, man and woman, friends. One of the hardest types of love is that given to stranger and people you do not like.

Not many people would come down to the poorest county in the country and volunteer to work on the houses of the residents. I think this is one of the hardest kinds of love because we don’t know who these people are, what kinds of people they are, or even if we could be friends with them, but yet we show them love in this simple way.
