A Message From the Youth Leaders

Think about who you have met that has touched your soul deeply.

Many of the youth leaders saw God and Love in a special woman from their first year in Harlan.

This woman lead a hard life: her husband, a coal miner, was killed; her children don't speak with her; and she can barely pay the bills. Left alone to fend for herself, she maintains her glorious garden.

We see a woman who has everything in the world to be disappointed in, with all of these hardships one would expect her outlook on life to be grim.

From what you would believe, she is the exact opposite. She has touched so many lives, especially the youth leaders over the years, because even though she has nothing she doesn't let any of her hardships break her down.  She was able to lift the spirits of all that came into her life from our mission trip and we will always cherish the time we spent with her.
