Hippochondriac
Our newest act has arrived: meet Hieronymus. Part animal and part mechanical, our strolling/rolling hippo is a walkabout giant puppet with built-in puppet shows available for festivals and events.
This amazing creature was designed and constructed by Kathy and Andrew Kim with frame fabrication by Julian Taylor, direction by Liz Lempen and made possible with the support of an Arts Council England Grants for the Arts award.
Upcoming outings include Nottingham Children's Festival, Halifax Festival, Witham International Puppet Festival and Didsbury Festival. See complete schedule
Giant Fish
We returned this year to be a part of the Stockton International Riverside Festival Carnival with a commission of three giant fish. Inspired by the brown trout found in the River Tees, these fish are two-pole puppets about 5 meters long and 4 meters high at the highest point.
Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade
We continued our partnership for the third and best ever Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade. This year's parade, produced by the newly formed Handmade Parade CIC, was created in three weeks of open workshops leading up to a parade of 600 participants and a finale pageant directed by Andrew Kim.
Sun Birds Take Flight
Originally created for the 2009 Stockton Carnival Finale, our three Sun Birds have had a little spruce up and have joined our ranks of Thingumajig creatures available for walkabout outings. This summer, the birds have been a part of the Manchester Day Parade, the Hebden Bridge Birthday Bash and the Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade Finale.
Thingumajig Abroad
In April, Andrew returned to Minneapolis to his puppet alma mater, In the Heart of the Beast Theatre, where he spent a month helping to create the 2010 MayDay Ceremony. His work included designing and co-building an 8-person tiger puppet which was assembled in front of the audience. In September and October, In February, 2011, we've been asked to return to the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta for a week run of " A November Day". We are currently in the process of setting up a mini US tour with possible stops in Arkansas and Minnesota.

Follow Us on Thingumablog
Despite my best intentions of sending out a regular newsletter, due to a crazy busy spring and summer, this newsletter has gone more bi-annual. However, I have been fairly good at posting bits of information about what were up to on my blog. Here, you''ll find posts and photos of the projects listed here in greater detail including in-process shots and media links.
