Was a smashing success!!

Fantastic job to all Edison Elementary readers!!!

We had 51% participation and 86,800 recorded minutes and this was an increase of 12,688 minutes over last Olympics.
So far we have raised $16K dollars for our library and literacy support! You can still bring in any pledges.

The Podium Standings are:

Bronze - Susan Dwoskin's Room w/10,319 minutes
Silver - Brian Reavis' Room w/10,923 minutes
Gold - Carrie Ann Naumoff's Room w/12,663 minutes

Awesome job!!! Thank you Edison Families!!!

THIS WEEK

Participate in the first Edison Costume Exchange!

costumes 2
Drop off old costumes in the marked box in the front office starting 10/5. We will organize them and make them available for free after school. Costume "shopping" day TBD, but will be in plenty of time for Halloween. Dig out those costumes! We are also looking for a few volunteers to help sort and set up. Contact Mimi Kato at mmkato@uoregon.edu if you are interested. Thanks!

Edison Meet the Masters Art Program - Volunteers Needed!

meet the mastersThe Meet the Masters Art Program is a Parent-led art education series that is in its 5th year here at Edison.  Many returning volunteers have already stepped forward to help lead the sessions again this year, but a number of classes could still use some volunteers.  If you are interested in learning more about this wonderful and interesting arts education program or in volunteering, please contact Elaine Lawson at ELLGSB911@gmail.com

Garden Volunteer Opportunities

Patricia Donohue, one of Edison's Educational Assistants and great garden supporter, has started a garden activity she's calling Monday Mindful Gardening. She has organized a number of kid-friendly activities -- drawing, music making, dead-heading flowers, raking leaves --- in the garden during lunch recess. The first Monday was a huge success and she could use some extra adults to assist. Monday Mindful Gardening is held in the garden on Mondays from 11:30-12:30. Patricia can be reached at donohue@4j.lane.edu Robin is also looking for 2 or 3 parents to help assist with cooking projects in Edison classrooms on Monday/Wednesday afternoons during the month of November. If you are interested, please send her an email at schoolhousegarden@gmail.com

FUNDRAISING

October is eScrip Month!

escriplogo 2Reprise: eScrip Quick October Tasks!
Did you miss any of this month's quick eScrip tasks? If you did, please take a moment to do them now so we can hit our $10,000 goal -- if we do nothing we are projected to earn only $6,000 (a full $2,000 less than "normal" and $4,000 less than we can do). Let's not leave that free money on the table, Edison Community!

Task #1: Sign up or update your cards. Did you get a new card in the last year? Please add it now to your eScrip account. Are you not signed up yet? Please sign up! Grab your wallet and go to www.eScrip.com to login or create a new account. Follow the steps as indicated on the site.
Task #2: Download ForgetMeNot on all your browsers. With the ForgetMeNot app on all your browsers, each time you navigate to a participating eScrip merchant’s page, a pop up will ask you if you want to earn for Edison. Just click and a percentage of everything you purchase will earn eScrip dollars automatically. Download the app by going to: https://shopping.escrip.com/
Task #3: Add "https://shopping.escrip.com/" to your bookmarks bar and everytime you shop at Amazon, click this bookmark, then click on the "Shop Amazon" button to be directed to Amazon.com and earn eScrip on your purchase. Just going to Amazon directly will not earn eScrip dollars.
