Attention Parents/Guardians! SUNBUTTER (made from Sunflower Seeds) is coming to ourschool lunch menus!
While this is great news for some, it may be scary for others. Please reassure your peanut or nut-allergic child that our school lunches are still peanut and nut-free, check your menus, and let us know if your child is allergic to sunflower seeds!
Our Annual Fall Fundraiser Kicks Off This Week! 11/5!
The month of November brings Edison's annual fall fundraiser and once again we are selling Café Mam coffee, J-Tea, and many wonderful treats from Euphoria Chocolate Company. And new to the fundraiser this year- Edison mugs! You can now show your school support while sipping your favorite hot beverage from an Edison ceramic or travel mug. Students will be bringing home fundraising envelopes this week and orders can be taken through the month of November. Products will be sent home with students the week before winter break.
Last year this fundraiser raised over $7,000 for our school. That money helped support literacy programs at Edison. Again this year the money raised during this fundraiser will be used to help students of all ability levels excel in reading.
So hit up those coworkers, the family at Thanksgiving, or email your book group asking them if they want to stock up on coffee for the year (it freezes well!) or get some of their holiday shopping done early. They can feel good about buying high quality, delicious coffee and goodies while supporting our elementary school AND three great local businesses at the same time. For more information please contact Jen Thoennes at 345-4970 or pighart@ hotmail.com
Patricia Donohue, one of Edison's Educational Assistants and great garden supporter, has started a garden activity she's calling Monday Mindful Gardening. She has organized a number of kid-friendly activities -- drawing, music making, dead-heading flowers, raking leaves --- in the garden during lunch recess. The first Monday was a huge success and she could use some extra adults to assist. Monday Mindful Gardening is held in the garden on Mondays from 11:30-12:30. Patricia can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org Robin is also looking for 2 or 3 parents to help assist with cooking projects in Edison classrooms on Monday/Wednesday afternoons during the month of November. If you are interested, please send her an email at email@example.com
We Still Need Volunteers for Health Screenings later this month!
Have a few hours to spare on the morning of Monday, November 23rd? Please come join our School Nurse Helana and volunteers from the Lions and Lane County dental hygienists to complete our K-5th grade student vision and dental screenings. We need about 6 volunteers from 8:30am until 11:30am. No experience necessary. It's fun and a great opportunity to meet lots of our Edison students. Please email Cathy Rasmussen firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP.
The Pub at Laurelwood Golf Course is hosting Edison's First Eat Out of Year is Coming up on November 10th!

Fundraising is a community effort so we need YOUR help with securing auction items for the Spring Art Walk! If you would like to donate any items such as tickets to events, artwork, services, etc. to this fundraiser or be the lead on collecting wonderful items for our spring event, please contact Jennifer Ensminger at email@example.com. Thank you for your support!
Fill up your car for Edison!
Don't forget to make one of the two local BioSequential gas stations your regular location to fill up your car AND mention Edison Elementary. They donate money for every food, coffee or gas purchase. And yes, they have regular gas as well as biodiesel and they have some delicious Sweet Life and Euphoria creations inside too!
Thank you Katie Westerman for organizing another wonderful Edison Carnival, and to all the wonderful parents, siblings, and University of Oregon and South Eugene High School volunteers for making the Halloween Carnival such a spooktacular night! It was a wonderful community evening filled with lots of smiling faces, and all the planning, organizing and hard work of everyone who made it happen is truly appreciated! Thank You!
A HUGE thank you to Andréa Leiserowitz for the great idea, to Mimi Kato, Tama Tochihara for hosting the give-away, and especially to all the parents who donated absolutely amazing Halloween costumes for Edison's FIRST Halloween Costume Exchange! Stay tuned - plans are already underway for next year's costume exchange-travganza, so please hold onto outgrown costumes and dress up clothes for next year's event.
