Ways to Help:

Any questions, please contact Katie Westerman at Let’s get reading, Edison!

Attention Parents/Guardians! SUNBUTTER (made from Sunflower Seeds) is coming to ourschool lunch menus!

While this is great news for some, it may be scary for others.  Please reassure your peanut or nut-allergic child that our school lunches are still peanut and nut-free, check your menus, and let us know if your child is allergic to sunflower seeds!

Our Annual Fall Fundraiser Kicks Off This Week! 11/5!
The month of November brings Edison's annual fall fundraiser and once again we are selling Café Mam coffecoffeee, J-Tea, and many wonderful treats from Euphoria Chocolate Company. And new to the fundraiser this year- Edison mugs! You can now show your school support while sipping your favorite hot beverage from an Edison ceramic or travel mug. Students will be bringing home fundraising envelopes this week and orders can be taken through the month of November. Products will be sent home with students the week before winter break.

Last year this fundraiser raised over $7,000 for our school. That money helped support literacy programs at Edison. Again this year the money raised during this fundraiser will be used to help students of all ability levels excel in reading.

So hit up those coworkers, the family at Thanksgiving, or email your book group asking them if they want to stock up on coffee for the year (it freezes well!) or get some of their holiday shopping done early. They can feel good about buying high quality, delicious coffee and goodies while supporting our elementary school AND three great local businesses at the same time. For more information please contact Jen Thoennes at 345-4970 or pighart@

Garden Volunteer Opportunities

Patricia Donohue, one of Edison's Educational Assistants and great garden supporter, has started a garden activity she's calling Monday Mindful Gardening. She has organized a number of kid-friendly activities -- drawing, music making, dead-heading flowers, raking leaves --- in the garden during lunch recess. The first Monday was a huge success and she could use some extra adults to assist. Monday Mindful Gardening is held in the garden on Mondays from 11:30-12:30. Patricia can be reached at Robin is also looking for 2 or 3 parents to help assist with cooking projects in Edison classrooms on Monday/Wednesday afternoons during the month of November. If you are interested, please send her an email at
