Welcome to the February 2011 PATA Patter
This edition has us preparing for our 6th Annual 5-Day Sterilization Campaign to be held 17 - 21 March, has the dates of the next 2 mini-clinics, repeats the Poker Tournament and Silent Auction results and provides a link to the 2010 Annual Report for PATA Manzanillo.
The 6th Annual March 5-Day Spay/Neuter Clinic
March 17 - 21 will be our sixth Spring spay/neuter campaign in Casa Ejidal, Salagua. This will again be an international event with a team of 5 people coming from Texas to help out. Last year 286 animals were sterilized our 5-day Spring clinic.
We are looking for volunteers to help with set up on the 16th, and tear down on the 22nd. In addition, during the clinic we need assistance with: registration, recovery, errands and laundry.
If you are unable to volunteer during the clinic, but wish to help out in other ways, we always need the following:
1. Large animal crates, please label clearly with your name and telephone number and they will be returned to you clean, at the end of the clinic.
2. Newspapers, we use these to line the cages and soak up accidents.
3. Miscellaneous supplies such as; alcohol, aqua oxigenada (hydrogen peroxide), bleach, plates, servingware, plastic glasses, syringes of 1 and 3 ml with needles, cotton balls, and refreshments.
4. We also need "meal donations" of breakfasts (i.e. muffins, croissants, bagels, breakfast burritos, single serve yogurts and juices) and lunches for about 20 vets and volunteers who don't have time to go off site to eat. In addition we are looking for dinner donations for the medical staff to enjoy a sit-down meal at the end of the day.
If you are able to assist us, please
send us an email.
Thanks and we hope you can help us with us make this important community event a huge success!

Mini-Clinic Schedule
Before our 5-day March Clinic we will be holding 2 one-day Mini-Clinics. The first one will be held 27 Feb in Valle Paraiso and the second will be 6 March in Tapeixtles. We are always looking for volunteers to give us a hand with these clinics.
We normally meet at 9am in front of Dra. Gaby's office to go to the clinic location. If you are interested in helping out, please
send us an email.

Poker Tournament Results
In case you missed the original email, here is a repeat review of the Poker Tournament and Silent Auction.
We wanted to thank all of the participants, sponsors and volunteers for
coming out and supporting the 3rd Annual PATA Manzanillo Poker
Tournament and Silent Auction. The event was held February 2 at the
Oasis Ocean Club
in Club Santiago. There was a very large turnout and the event raised
over $42,000 pesos. This will pay for over 300 sterilization surgeries
in and around Manzanillo. We want to thank each and every supporter for
their impressive generosity and kindness!

Also a big thank you to all of our volunteers who helped secure auction
items, offered their time as dealers and lent poker chips. We could not
have held this event without all of you! It also would not have been
possible without all of our sponsors/donors and the Oasis Ocean Club who
generously offered their beautiful restaurant for this event.
2010 Annual Report
In January PATA Manzanillo published an annual report outlining their activities for the past year. This is the first time that we or any animal group in Manzanillo have done so.
The highlights for 2010 include:
- 15 sterilization clinic days
- 802 animals sterilized
- Held the first multi-day clinic in Centro Manzanillo
- Developed a relationship with the State Health Department and received clinic material from them
