PATA Manzanillo has spent the last year expanding free spay/neuter community outreach services with one-day mini-clinics in and around Manzanillo’s neediest neighborhoods. Now over 1900 animals have received the gift of life with free spay/neuter surgeries sponsored financially by PATA over the past 4 years.
Here are some highlights for what to expect from PATA over the next month, and ways to get involved:

DOG JOG 5 KM WALK-A-THON RETURNS! The countdown is on for our 3rd annual DOG JOG 5 km walk-a-thon around the Santiago Peninsula. The race/walk begins at 8 AM on Sun. Nov. 29 from the parking lot of Plaza Pacifico heading up Ave Audiencia (where there used to be a Kiosko store). Please arrive early if you haven't pre-registered to get your race number and turn in your pledge form. Pre-register at Mexican Pacific Marketing offices (2nd floor of Nextel building on Santiago garden) or Dr Gaby's clinic (Las Brisas roundabout). Don't forget that you may bring a well-trained dog on a leash BUT it is not necessary to participate. Prizes for fastest human racer (one night in Boca de Iguanas EcoResort), fastest dog racer (on a leash) and top fundraiser!
If you want friends and family back home to pledge you in your race, let them know to donate to our PayPal account on www.PATAManzanillo.com and send us an email letting us know the amount is for you.

Fall Sterilization Campaign PATA completed its first-ever 3-day Fall MASH clinic and combined with two extra back-to-back mini-clinics in Armeria and Pancho Villa completed 190 sterilizations on needy dogs and cats with the help of Dra. Yolanda and Dr. Ruben from Mexico City, as well as our new graduated vet (and former Tecoman student) Dra. Nadia Padilla. There were the usual showing of young kittens up for adoption and we managed to place a few dogs in good forever homes as well.
A huge round of applause and thanks go out to the dedicated volunteers who put in long hours of nursing animals back to recovery, the amazing Campo Verde crew (we are interested to see how many of YOU go into veterinary medicine!) and of course, MJ and Stan, without whose constant dedication, positivity and energy none of this would be possible. This latest effort pushes the number of surgeries sponsored by PATA Manzanillo to more than 1,900 in just four years. Way to go everyone!

2010 PET CALENDAR HITS THE STANDS The 2010 PATA pet calendar is arriving the first week in December -- better late than never. It will be available for 200 pesos at two locations in Manzanillo: Mexican Pacific Marketing offices (2nd floor of Nextel building on Santiago garden) and Dr. Gaby's clinic (Las Brisas roundabout). Also two locations in the Barra/Melaque with Nan at Casa Marco/Sea to Sierra and Penny's Deli.
Thanks again for everyone who has donated finances, time and energy to the animal welfare scene in Manzanillo and/or volunteered in some way to help the cause. If you are curious and want to help -- whether it be hosting a visiting veterinarian in a home stay, pitching in with a spay/neuter clinic, participating in or planning a fundraiser, preparing a meal for hungry clinic volunteers -- please email us here at info@patamanzanillo.com. We have programs and events constantly in place year-round and would love to welcome new faces to the PATA family.
Thanks to the efforts of many, the word is spreading and the spark of responsible pet care has been ignited within the local community, meaning only better things to come for our four legged friends in the future.

Next Mini-Clinic The next Mini-Clinic will be on the 13th of December in La Cima. We will probably meet at 9am in front of Gaby's clinic. Detailed info will come out the week of the clinic.
If you haven't worked a mini-clinic, they are an entirely different operation than the volume clinics. They tend to be more intimate settings and we limit ourselves to 15 - 20 animals a day. We hope to see some of you there.

Please help us by spreading the word and talking up the Dog Jog with neighbors, friends, coworkers and clients. If everyone takes it upon themselves to generate more interest and support, then we can ensure the continued success of this project, which has all of Manzanillo's community at heart.
Saludos,
Renee
