Designate Your Thrivent Choice $$$
Are you a member of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans? If so, you've probably heard about their Thrivent Choice program for sometime now.
Thrivent Choice is your opportunity to direct some of Thrivent's charitable dollars to places like Camp Lutherhaven and Shoshone Base Camp. Last year alone, Thrivent Financial provided more than $100 million to support congregations, communities and organizations like ours!
It's time for you to designate your Thrivent Choice dollars! To direct funds to Lutherhaven go to https://www.thrivent.com/thriventchoice/ or call 800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836) and state "Thrivent Choice".
Thanks for designating Camp Lutherhaven, Idaho or Shoshone Base Camp as your Thrivent Choice!
Horses Arriving at Shoshone!
Lutherhaven Ministries is easing into an exciting new horse program that will premiere at Shoshone Base Camp the summer of 2011. Kids in grade school through high school will be able to sign up for our week-long riding camps.
We've hired a wrangler, have horses, saddles, tack and feed coming in, and are getting Shoshone used to the rhythm that horses bring to the camp day.
We're looking for donations of
-
Horses that work great with kids, typically older, gentle, healthy people-friendly animals well broken to ride
-
ANY AND ALL Tack: saddle blankets, bridles, halters, lead ropes, brushes, cinches, etc.
-
Saddles--all sizes
-
Hay
-
Fence panels and fence posts and rails
-
Designated money to purchase equipment, fencing, gates, troughs, etc.
We're also looking for friends to adopt a horse through the winter months, about November through April.
Donations are tax deductible.

Idaho Servant Adventures at the National Youth Gathering
Our new Idaho Servant Adventures rubbed shoulders with 25,000 teens from 1,500 youth groups from around the country last week at the 2010 National LCMS Youth Gathering in New Orleans.
What a great chance it was to meet new friends and tell them all about the fantastic summer programming we have available for them and their friends up the river at Shoshone!

McPherson Cabin Goes Up!
The historic McPherson cabin, hand hewn and built by notorious Frank McPherson from logs left over from the Great Fire of 1910, is going up at Shoshone Base Camp. The 30-by-50 two-story cabin, originally built in the late 1920's and moved to Shoshone in 2004, will be fully restored to become a signature building of the camp's new horse camp program for youth and families.
Camp staff and volunteers are working through the summer to stack the hundreds and hundreds of "Lincoln" logs, following maps and diagrams of the structure that were carefully drawn as the building was dismantled six summers ago.
By fall the plan is to have the cabin roofed and sealed up, and work will contnue next summer to finish the restoration.
The cabin is truly unique, with log purlins running to the ridge with each course of logs.
