Awareness vs. Fear
Awareness vs. Fear
October 5, 2016
Eric msg 1
       message 2016 Jewish new year
It's useful, practical, and sensible
to be mindful of dangers in life.
Earthly life is unpredictable,
and we all know that "stuff happens" every day.

There is a big difference
between being aware and being fearful, however.

Fear is reactive.
Fears are often conditioned responses to past events
that may be out of proportion to present circumstances.
(Think of the dogs that were conditioned
to salivate at the sound of a dinner bell,
even if there was no food around.)

Awareness allows one to assess a situation
more accurately, without jumping to conclusions
based solely on past experience.

Realized souls like Jesus, Gandhi, and Mother Teresa
were able to function with supreme effectiveness
in extremely dangerous situations because of their awareness
of the Presence of the Spirit within them at all times.

It's easier to be bold and brave
when you know that the Divine has got your back,
and that no matter what happens,
you're going to live forever in the Everlasting Arms of Love.

Do whatever it takes every day to remember
that you are never alone
and that life is a bold adventure.
