How to Give Up Worry
June 6, 2018

       messge karma and the city

There’s a big difference between awareness and worry.
With awareness, something has your attention,
you’re experiencing your difficulty, challenge, or pain,
and facing the situation, but it doesn’t overwhelm you.

Worry is a different thing entirely.
Worry, anxiety, stress, and discouragement
are states of consciousness that don’t actually
help you deal with life’s challenges
in any positive or helpful way.

Jesus said: “Can any of you add even one hour
to your life by worrying?”

Worry is about as useful as wings on a dodo bird.
Dodo birds couldn’t fly and their wings
didn’t do anything to help them escape extinction.
Worry is all the stuff in your backpack
that you don’t need
when you’re on a long hike.
It just weighs you down and slows you down.

The next time you notice yourself
worrying about something, ask yourself:
“What do I need to do to release this useless worrying?”
