What the toy megastore can't offer...

Did you know that a child’s stress level falls the minute they see a green space? This weekend we’ll have dozens of kids planting Gift Tree seedlings in Forest Park. Each one will take home an experience no toy or video game can offer. If you’d like to give a child that kind of gift, consider dedicating a tree in their name—including the opportunity to plant it together in 2014. Visit our Gift Tree page

Tree love

Ginkgo biloba, bearer of hope

Six ginkgo trees survived the Hiroshima bombing, which is why the Japanese hold the ginkgo in high regard as the "bearer of hope."

Needless to say, they make very hardy street trees. The gingkos that glow gold each fall in our neighborhoods are "living fossils"—virtually identical to gingkos that once stood among the dinosaurs. Learn the secret to gingko's long survival

Aren't gingkos amazing?

Crew leader profile: Alyse N.

Growing up, the first tree she ever loved was a huge cherry tree in her backyard, the source of grandma's delicious pies and mom's concerns about her climbing too high.

Now she’s leading loyal brigades of planting volunteers as one of 136 new Crew Leaders—the class of 2013. Meet Alyse
